Through a number of different programs, we are able to provide support to the homeless, and those who are at risk of losing their tenancy. Often this requires a multi tiered approach and we have proven experience in helping our clients to maintain their tenancy and make lasting improvements in their living arrangements.

Shower, laundry and support connecting the homeless to essential services
The homeless and disadvantaged population of Brisbane have somewhere to go to shower, wash their clothes and to get essential services, thanks to ‘Stand Up, Step Out’ (SUSO), a joint partnership between Footprints in Brisbane, Sandgate and Bracken Ridge Action Groups (Sandbag) and One Voice, from Melbourne.
Footprints in Brisbane and partners are the recipients of a Dignity First grant from the Department of Housing and Public Works and are very excited to be bringing this concept to those who need it the most.
In a first for the Brisbane suburbs, the mobile unit will allow the ‘project’ to service areas where there is a ‘significant’ population who are currently unable to gain access to basic services, usually only found within the confines of the city. This free mobile shower and laundry service will be available for those who require a helping hand.
SUSO will work with existing organisations to complement the services already present in the area. The SUSO service is currently operating in Wynnum, Capalaba and Clontarf, with the ability to reach other areas in the future.
The initiative requires the support of a team of volunteers, from bus drivers with a HR or MR licence to support workers, to assist Footprints staff at the various locations. The Homeless Outreach Program provides support for people under 65 years of age (and under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people). If you have a condition that affects your ability to complete activities of daily living, and you are homeless or at risk of homelessness, than you may be eligible for support.
